Never underestimate the power of Artwas the phrase that caught my attention in an article (Jesse Davis Murder Highlights Perils Of Interracial Relationships). Jesse was a white woman who was murdered by her Black spouse/ Canton Police officer Bobby Cutts Jr. And what’s worse is that she was pregnant at the time. So what’s Art got to do with it?
According to the article, the current popular trend of racial intermingling, unprecedented in American history and most often visible between white women and black men, is tacitly the designed fallout, and direct result of, the ultra-macho “gangsta” black virile male image, as propagated in Hip-Hop videos and popular media, that many self-effacing white women with low self-esteem seem to find fatally irresistible.
First of all, interracial dating aint just about black men and white women. As long as you have crossed the racial border, be it Italian on White, Latino on Black, it is interracial.
And look at the statement above! I cannot even begin to pick out the stereotypes depicted… from ‘ultra macho’ to ‘low self-esteem’. And it doesn’t just end there. It goes on to say that ‘Politically and economically power-shy Blacks have long manipulated media into a weapon of sexual invasion with great effect, as sexual invasion is the mightiest weapon of them all.’
So does this mean that Music is now being used as weapon to sexually appeal to White women? Is Art - hip-hop music in this case - the reason why people choose to date Black men? So what about the Eminems of this world then? And how do we explain this double murder of a White woman and fetus by her Black dude? Some intent on his part? Fatal attraction? Art? You tell me.

As soon as I found out he was Black man, I knew this kind of thinking was gonna go running through people’s minds.

heartbreak story ,what can i say

Yep Fala, and now the comedians are playing it up. I heard a very distasteful joke on the radio about how black men treat white women. To me, none of this is funny, especially when it happens in your own back yard.

As the heartbroken woman in the video was pleading, the murdered woman’s life was not a waste and her death is tragic. It’s natural for people to seek reassurance when hurt, understanding when presented with dangers, so we can avoid them and comforting reassurance that it won’t happen to us. It takes a brave, forthright person to choose what’s best when that choice defies societal norms (We are social creatures, after all.) and I have found a generally high caliber of person on this site.
Some people aren’t willing to look at their prejudices and biases while seeking comfort and reassurance, though. Some of these just don’t let these issues or people they associate with them into their lives. Some of these lash out at those associated with the issues that make them uncomfortable. In either case, it’s racist and that’s rotten. I suspect that’s what drives the hateful writing Ria brings up.
We can, with good hearts and kindnesses large and small, show others that people are just that - People, deserving of love, respect and caring and that our culturally diverse nature enrichens us in ways we would not otherwise know, let alone appreciate. Resolute, brave decency wins every time over hate because people crave leadership and heroism, no matter the scope.
Yes, Ria, art does have a vital role to play in interracial dating and relations: Art can depict the joys or diverse views opening eyes we didn’t know were shut. It’s the message, not the medium that is important and each of us carries that message in some form, with all we do.

Race is an illusion, there is only one human race…people just adapt to their environment…so far for races!
It is true that there different ways of living, that should be preserved and respected…not only the western way of seeing things is the right one…as we see proven more and more, we have the most aberrant lifestyle, and it is hight time we did something about that! We wont continue to kill all that lives on this earth , for ages to come! Let us take this challenge together and do all we can and all that is needed to turn the tide FOR THE LOVE FOR OUR CHILDREN AND NATURE WHO GIVES US ALL

Well, personally I do not see the combination between art and interacial dating. Art will not change anybodys mind. We have got a brain to think about what we like and what we do not like.

Art is innocent ….Bob is the guilty one!! Or maybe Joe…but Art was busy eating a breaded veal and spaghetti Swanson’s TV Dinner wih his Aunt Benita.

The sad fact is that everyone wants to look to color first. This is a case about one common theme that women need to pay attention to: Men are killing their girlfriends, wives and mistresses to not have to take responsibility for children. This isn’t a black/white issue, it’s a crime issue. More importantly it’s a domestic abuse issue. Women need to stop having children indiscrimantly with men, because while it takes two to tango, there’s alot of men that don’t want to have those kids. That old saying holds true: Hit and quit it.
Just food for thought…

I just thought back to something similar to this murder of this young lady.A little over a year, there were someone that I knew that was murder and the baby’s father was involved. It is happening more than ever today that women are being murdered or victim of domestic violence while pregnant.

Art has a role in everything. The author of the article quoted above has been affected by it, seemingly to reinforce his/her own twisted views.
I do believe that the artist has a duty not only to report the world as he/she sees it but also to raise the level of consciousness and discourse through art. That is what Bach did. That is what Picasso did. That is what Shakespeare did.
Not all that is musical is art however. Without appealing to our higher instincts it is just entertainment at best.
