Dating websites never cease to amaze me. As the number of people seeking others online increase, so do specialized alternative dating services emerge. We nowadays have websites for all kinds of people – the rich and beautiful, pets and zoo animals. The other day I came across one for the poker lovers.
When it comes to dating however, there are people who get alienated for some reason or the other. If you come across a profile where someone clearly declared that they are HIV positive or have herpes, would you consider dating them? Be honest with me people… I don’t spank.
You will agree with me that dating with a medical condition can be awkward especially when it comes to the time when you have to lay the cards on the table… divulging your situation. Finding others with similar circumstances is a natural desire.
Well one thing I have come to admire about upcoming dating sites, is the ability to cater for quite a variety of people. And yes… you guessed right. A dating website has been launched for people with health conditions… from cancer, deafness, AIDS and Herpes through to obesity.
This website is dedicated to giving people with special conditions a chance to experience a completely honest dating experience enabling them to openly and honestly seek love with people happy to share their medical problems.
Do you think it is good that people are coming up with such websites or do you feel that this further alienates those with such conditions? I really would like to read your comments on this one.

How about a dating website for men and women who are afraid of the internet?? An idea waiting to be explored.

Dating for folks with the same medical condition? Now that’s an interesting concept. I for one, am dating someone with the same illness as I have, diabetes. I guess you can say we are one SWEET couple!

Hey Mossimo… That’s a very interesting one. Ironical. Wouldn’t mind picking that brain of yours to see how you would work this all out
Comment by Cocokisses on 29 June 2007:
Moss, you’d all join that club, and be too afraid to contact each other
Comment by mossimo on 29 June 2007:
Well it sounded good Coco and Ria…perhaps those sites are not a bad idea, but I wonder how many members they would actually get. Enough to make it viable?
Comment by fala on 29 June 2007:

Fala,
Afro would be for people who are afraid of dating in general, lol. I have met a few of those…call them time-wasters.
Comment by Cocokisses on 30 June 2007:
Fala & Mossimo…you are on the money. Lot of time wasters BUT lots of cool people like the two of you
Comment by laugh_sailor on 30 June 2007:
I’ll second your vote, Coco - Though there are a small number people here who will actually meet. I’ve had better luck here than on other sites and think it’s due to the common bond we share.
Comment by fala on 30 June 2007:
Now don’t any of you girls out there go wasting any of Mossimo’s time!
Comment by mossimo on 1 July 2007:
Thanks Coco!! You are so silly Fala!! Could never waste time with you, if only I were so lucky.

I think that it is a great ideal, but it’s not really a new thing. You have groups on the internet before that seek each other out that share the same interest, this is not so different. One of the hardest thing about a web date, flirt, IM or message to a person on a date site is the fear of rejection once the person finds out about you. We all seen the profiles that say “want a woman with not baggage or no drama”. Well if they reject you because you feel life been hard, how fast out the door would the person be if you said you was sick! I think it is a good ideal, because nothing else you know that the person is honest about one thing if the site said dating for HIV persons, because why would you go to that site and say you was curious? You would not. I’m off my soap box now, bye.

Great article Ria. That is so so cool.
I suppose it is tough to date someone with a life-limiting illness.

Mostly the singles looking for a love connection in the online dating sites to join the tedious searching and struggles associated with wedding through million of profiles that are not even close to what they were looking for will find niche dating sites helpful in finding their love interest.
