4 Fun Dates to Rejuvenate Your Relationship

Posted by James, 11 Dec

Whether you have been married for a few decades or are just starting to date again, it's important to keep things fresh and exciting between you and your special guy. Sure, going out to lunch and heading to a matinee can be fun and relaxing, but it also has a "been there, done that a million times" kind of vibe. In order to keep your relationship strong and vibrant, think outside of the date box a bit and try some activities that are fun, different, and maybe just a smidge outside of your comfort zone.

Head for the Heights

Find your soulmate on AfroRomance

While you might think that carnivals and amusement parks are just for kids, they can actually be a great place to spend time with your sweetie and rekindle some serious sparks. A good old adrenaline rush - like you might get while riding a really fast roller coaster - can actually mimic the feeling you get when you first fall in love. According to research from The University of Texas, the butterflies and bats you might get in your stomach as the result of riding the Tilt-A-Whirl with your hubby might just arouse a giddy, excited feeling. Plus, if one of you are afraid of heights, going on rides together can help you comfort each other and get all snuggly at the top of the Ferris wheel - which is definitely not a bad thing.

Go on a Photo Booth Hunt

As Style Caster notes, a fun and different date night idea is to spend a couple of hours seeking out photo booths, and then using each one you find to take some fun photos of the two of you. All that you really need to do this is an idea of where some will be located - many malls have them, as do a lot of family-themed pizza joints - and a steady supply of quarters or dollar bills. End the evening with a fun treat like ice cream or a cocktail and pore over your goofy and fun photos.

Hit the Water

If you and your man love getting out on the open water, it can be ultra romantic and special to spend some time together on a boat. As a bonus, you don't have to spend a ton of money on a fancy week-long cruise; you can rent a canoe and paddle around on a local pond, or charter a larger craft and head out on a lake at night for a lovely evening of star gazing. If you don't already have a boater's license it is now easier than ever to get one, and it can be another activity you can do together. There are easy to complete online boating exams, helpful study guides and tools to help you learn all about boating safety on the Web. All that you have to do is enter in your state, and you can get busy studying for and taking the test to get your license.

Channel Your Inner Kiddo

Dates don't always have to be at night. As Nifty Date Ideas suggests, you and your special guy can schedule an early morning cartoons and carbs date. Wear your favorite pajamas, enjoy a jelly donut or two or a bowl of your favorite sugary cereal from your youth, and watch some kid's cartoons on TV. To work off your sugar high, head out together for a nice walk around the neighborhood after the shows are over. Whether you change out of your jammies first is entirely up to you.
