First black 'James Bond' interracially married
"I am officially the only person on planet Earth who can legitimately say, 'I am the new James Bond' – even saying that name is the cinematic equivalent of doing the ‘to be or not to be’ speech.", said British actor David Oyelowo, after being asked by the Ian Fleming estate to voice the secret agent in the newly commissioned Bond novel 'Trigger Mortis' by Anthony Horowitz.
In real life, Oyelowo got married to English actress Jessica Oyelowo in 1998. The couple have four children.
Oyelowo has faced racism before when playing Shakespeare’s Henry VI, which made him the first black actor to play an English king. He received tonnes of hate mail which he had to ask his agent to filter. This was over 10 years ago but it was the "How dare you enter a realm that is not yours to enter?" kind of hate mail, he said.
