Halle Berry sues her white ex for straightening their daughter's hair
Halle Berry and her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry have a 6-year-old mixed race daughter Nahla. And according to reports by TMZ, Berry got furious on discovering that Aubry "...was straightening Nahla's naturally-curly hair, lightening it with highlights." So Berry took Aubry to court because she feels Aubry is trying to make their daughter 'look White'. As TMZ put it: "... she is convinced it's because he does not want the girl to appear to be African American."
Berry had publicly declared her stand on her daughter's identity in 2011. All she wants is for Nahla to decide her racial identity for herself. She told Ebony:
"I'm not going to put a label on it. I had to decide for myself, and that's what she's going to have to decide — how she identifies herself in the world. And I think, largely, that will be based on how the world identifies her. That's how I identified myself.

But I feel like she's black. I'm black and I'm her mother, and I believe in the one-drop theory."
The judge finally ruled that neither parent could change Nahla's look from its natural state; allowing the hair to grow back naturally.
Do you think her claims that Aubry is turning their daughter white well founded? How would you have reacted?
