"He Basically Called Me A Monkey" - John Legend Opens Up about Being Racially Abused by JFK Pap

Posted by Ria, 25 Jan

Remember last week we told you about that horrific racist incident regarding John Legend and Chrissy Teigen?

In case you missed it, a member of the paparazzi who was waiting for the couple to arrive at New York’s JFK airport made racist comments that we really don’t want to repeat about John Legend.

Although his gorgeous wife Chrissy Teigen discussed the incident on her Twitter account, John Legend had remained silent on the issue… until now!

Your perfect partner could be online right now...

What are you looking for?

“He basically called me a monkey,” John Legend said about the pap. “Black folks have had to deal with being called monkeys for a long time and dehumanisation has always been a method of racism and subjugation of black people. That’s just part of American history and it’s part of the present, apparently.”

You might think that John and Chrissy were pretty distraught with the comments, but he said he wasn’t actually hurt by them and has learnt to rise above it…

“I’m not hurt by someone saying that to me because I’m smarter, I’m stronger. I look down on that person that would say something like that, but it’s a shame that still exists.”

It definitely takes a strong man to think like that – we love you John Legend! We hope that this is the last story of this nature that we will ever have to write.

Totally agree with his assessment on not being hurt by this racist individual. This "person" is certainly beneath him and everyone else.
