Iggy Feels the "Becky" Reference to White Girls By Beyonce is Offensive

Posted by Ria, 27 Apr

Beyonce's 'Lemonade' album was meant to be a tribute to Black girls around the world. However, Iggy Azalea, feels it is quite harsh on White women.

Beyonce' sings about Jay Z’s infidelity saying:“What a wicked way to treat the girl that loves you”. But one thing that has Iggy ticked is the now-infamous "Becky with the good hair" lyric in the song 'Sorry'. Maybe "Becky" is her referring to the woman her husband cheated on her with. Maybe saying "Becky with good hair" is her way of stressing how people think Black women's hair is inferior.

But Iggy thinks not. She thinks the term "Becky" is offensive; code for "basic white bit**". And what makes it more offensive to her is that she has been called Becky growing up. Here are some of Iggy's tweets on this and how strongly she really feel about this:

Your perfect partner could be online right now...

What are you looking for?

"...generalizing ANY race by calling them one stereotypical name for said race. i personally dont think is very cool, the end."

"... I dont care. Dont call all asian women "ming lee" dont call white women "becky" dont call black women "sha nay nay"

"...the whole becky thing "give me that becky" comes from white women's supposed love for blow jobs. so excuse me but, i dont want"

"...to be called a generalized name that gained popularity as a way to describe oral sex and then generally white women. no thanks."

Some guy named Kevin backs Iggy saying:

"...So it's cool for Beyoncé to call white girls Becky. But if Iggy calls a black dude Dashawn, she's a racist"

Some people think Iggy is overreacting. What do you think?

Get over it Becky...uh Iggy.... It's not that serious girl. It's clear that you don't know what the term "good hair" means. Ask Beyonce! LOL...

"...So it's cool for Beyonc to call white girls Becky. But if Iggy calls a black dude Dashawn, she's a racist" Yup, welcome to America! This goes all the way back to the story of using the "N" word. I, myself, never used it and I don't care to ever use it. But what I laugh about is the mentality of some people where it's like "You can't use it but I can because it's between me and my friend/whomever." But these same fools cry that racism still exists. By still using it, YOU'RE PROMOTING IT! How about NO ONE use it AT ALL? Don't limit it to white people, use the same "rule" for everyone! If you want to stop racism, then don't use the word no matter what is your skin tone. Black people who still use the "N" word need to eliminate the word from their vocabulary or else "cut the bull." If you want racism to disappear, step 1 is EVERYONE should stop using the N word. Lead the change, don't hold onto the past. "Be the change you want to see in the world" - Gandhi
