Octavia Spencer rents entire cinema so disadvantaged families can watch 'Hidden Figures'

We’ve pretty much been obsessed with Octavia Spencer since her Oscar-winning performance in 'The Help' all those years ago. And now the actress has given us yet another reason to look up to/love her even more…

A few days ago, she informed her fans that she had rented out an entire cinema in Los Angeles for disadvantaged families to watch her latest movie, 'Hidden Figures', for free. Is that the nicest thing to commemorate Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday weekend, or what?

“I've bought the 8pm showing of #hiddenfigures the rave Baldwin hills. If you know a family in need that would like to see our movie but can't afford it have them come,” she wrote on Instagram. “It's first come first served. My mom would not have been able to afford to take me and my siblings. So, I'm honoring her and all single parents this #mlkweekend Pass the word.”

We think this is a great way to help more people watch the film, which is based on the true and empowering story of a group of African-American women in the 1960s that helped NASA launch its first ever successful space mission, Project Mercury.

Octavia Spencer plays the role of Dorothy Vaughan, and she’s really quite incredible.

It’s definitely a must-watch!
