Grab Their Attention With Your Profile

So your just getting into online dating, or maybe online dating didn't work out for you the first time you tried it. Don't give up...it might have just been that your profile wasn't up to par. By following a few simple suggestions you can drastically improve your profile and increase your chances of meeting that special person online!

Post a picture. This is by far the most important thing you can do to increase your chances of meeting someone you click with. While we all like to say 'looks don't really matter', the truth is we are initially attracted to someone based on their looks. Not having a picture online not only reduces the number of people who will browse your profile, it also tells other people online that you aren't serious about meeting someone online.

Now some will argue that they don't want their picture on the Internet. If this is how you feel then put a line in your profile telling people that if they want a picture to send you an email and then you can decide who gets to see your picture. Most importantly you need to have a picture to present to other people.

Post an appropriate picture. While posting a picture is crucially important, posting an inappropriate picture can have a worse effect than not posting one at all.

First, don't post the picture of you with the ex girlfriend / boyfriend. Not only will it drive people away from your profile but also you will end up answering the question 'who is that in the picture with you' a million times. On the same note don't post a picture with you and your 10 friends. Once again you will get the 'which one is you' question over and over.

Next, don't post a professional picture. We all know that you look great in that glamour shot or the Christmas pictures you had taken for your mom, but posting a professionally shot picture online makes you look like your trying too hard.

My suggestion is to ask your friend to take a picture of you right before your ready to go out on the town, or when you're having the friends over for a barbecue. Make sure you look presentable in the picture but don't make it look like the picture was taken just for the dating web site.

Fill out your questionnaire completely. Most online dating web sites have free form section or a question and answer section where you can describe yourself in your own words. Make sure you fill out these sections. I know that it can be time consuming to answer all the questions but try to think of it as an investment in your dating future. After you have answered the questions, double check what you have written to make sure it makes sense to the reader.

A few tweaks to your online dating profile can make huge differences in finding the right person online.
