How would you describe yourself?:

Well, I like meeting new people, and spending time with my friends - good conversation, sometimes serious, sometimes back and forth fun, sometimes playing with the language - and sometimes just being plain silly. I do quite a lot of serious stuff at work trying to help my patients (I'm a children's doctor), and also outside work, doing (non-party) political stuff trying to improve the health service, and I am a partner in a charity which I set up..
So outside work silly is important..
I've just spent 2 hours parachuting with a niece and nephew. She is 2 and he is 5. We were VERY BRAVE INDEED as we jumped off the sofa and rolled onto the carpet.
I like good wine and food - in restaurants or cooking myself. I like movies, the theatre, concerts, live music, galleries and museums.
But I'm not a couch potato: I've taken up going to the gym daily, and one of my rooms is now full of weights and gym kit - though the gym ball is my latest toy (though I wish I didn't fall off quite so often: I'm no ballet dancer!). I sail, scuba dive, swim, cycle, play squash.. And I'm thinking of learning how to play tennis much better, though that always seems to stay more of a thought than a reality... I also love walking by the sea or in the countryside - on a sunny or a misty day - best when chatting with a friend.
I also sing. I used to play the flute - but recently started learning the guitar - it is hard to sing whilst playing the flute!
At other times I will chill out listening to music, or pottering in my garden: I love getting things to grow. And at other times I'll just stare at the water at the end of my garden and chat with the ducks and swans - however frustrating the NHS has been they agree with me entirely. Particularly if I give them bread.
I can turn my hand to DIY - a typical boy who likes his power tools. I've loved setting up my house and garden, and putting up my eclectic art.
My current project is setting up a coral reef fish tank - I can't always be diving in warm water so I thought I'd have my own reef in my living room to soothe the soul. When its raining I can now contemplate the world with my fish (well, of course they are in the tank and I'm outside- they do seem a bit more serene than me..).
I love travelling. I lived in Australia for nearly 5 years. I like watching animals (on land or below the sea), seeing great scenery, historical sites - and I have done both activity holidays and just chilling (actually warming) on a beach or by a swimming pool.
I'm looking for someone to share this with - and to discover new exciting and fun experiences. And to laugh with. Lots! |
