A lil’ business a lil’ pleasure

Posted by Ria, 09 Jan

couple.jpgWell with the New Year with us, there will be lots of newcomers joining us at work. Many of us will be like "Seen that cutie that joined the company last week? Man, I dig her!" Well you probably have set your mind on meeting the one this year and voila! There she or he is … manner from heaven right at your workplace. Question is, could you be with your spouse 24/7 or would the constant companionship bust your lust?

Well, it sounds like a dream at first: Living and working with the person you love, spending every waking moment of the day together. Could you actually share the boardroom and bedroom, the payroll and pillow talk, the daily grind and night grinding? Could you clock in together without eventually wanting to punch the living daylights out of each other?

Well this clearly is a lobster-trap situation – easy going in, tough going out. For me it’s a bit tricky coz I have never had a lover I could stand being with 24-7. And the worst bit is not being able to come home at the end of the day and say “You would not believe what happened at work today᾿. No new gossip for one another at the dinner table. You can’t even make the other person jealous with stories of what cute guy in your office said to you.

Well, if this is a path you have chosen to take, then don’t listen to these people who predict a time frame for how long your relationship will last. It is important to ignore all that and follow your instincts. There are those that have done it and it has worked. As for me, I need to make my dude jealous about that cute guy in the office. ;-)

Can your relationship really survive 24-7 exposure?

Don't date anyone at work, it will only end up in a disaster! (been there, done that!)

I agree with most on this. Dating a co-worker can be a nightmare! However, flirting & an occasional lunch date can make going to work a real pleasure ! As long as you're both on the same page of course.

I agree Moss. I learned not to do it by watching all the failed relationships, not to mention affairs! Best to stay clear of the drama.

In my opinion I think you should embrace those opportunity that are presented to you. I do understand that if it doesn't work out that you have to see them everyday and its hard. Now on the other hand there has been just as much successful stories we just don't hear about them because they are successful. There have been plenty of bosses that have married there secretaries. It's about being mature and communication on how things are handled. In most cases of failed office relationships (not saying all)you flirt with each other. You try hooking up on a date then you fool around and usually no one talks about saying If we break up let's be friends because we have to work together. I know it sounds corny but thats what happens.

I'm with you Moss! In the 20 years that I have been working, I have never dated a co-worker. You have everyone in the office in your business, and when it goes sour, you still have to see each other every day. Also, there are companies that discourage that type of behavior, so one should decide if its worth losing your job over.

Well, the spirit of romance flies everywhere... but 24-7 exposure is too risky particularly at work. So guys date where you can but dare carefully at work.

My personal rule....no dating on the job. Too many problems and things that can go wrong. What happens if the relationship turns sour and you have to see them every single day. No thanks!!
