Chrissy Teigen and John Legend suffer devastating loss of their third child

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend have suffered the devastating loss of their third child, following complications in the pregnancy which resulted in “extreme blood loss” and hospitalization.

The 34-year-old model took to Instagram to tell the world about the heart-breaking loss that she and John Legend had suffered, and shared five very personal black and white pictures from her hospital bed.

“We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we've never felt before,” her emotional Instagram post began.

“We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.”

Among the black and white pictures which she shared, was a picture of her and John holding their son, who they named Jack, in their arms…

"We never decide on our babies' names until the last possible moment after they're born, just before we leave the hospital. But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack. So he will always be Jack to us,” she continued.

“Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever.

"To our Jack – I'm so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive.

“We will always love you.”

Chrissy finished her post by thanking everyone for their support, adding that she will always be grateful for “the amazing things” they still have – including their two children Luna and Miles.

"Thank you to everyone who has been sending us positive energy, thoughts and prayers. We feel all of your love and truly appreciate you.

"We are so grateful for the life we have, for our wonderful babies Luna and Miles, for all the amazing things we've been able to experience. But everyday can't be full of sunshine.

“On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out. But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it."

The couple are parents to four-year-old daughter Luna and two-year-old-son Miles, both of whom were conceived via IVF. They announced their “quarantine surprise” third pregnancy via John Legend’s Wild music video, as his wife was shown cradling a very obvious baby bump.

"What they say so often can be true. When you give up on trying, life has a way of surprising you,” she said at the time.

Chrissy Teigen announced that she was hospitalized due to complications in her pregnancy last month, telling her social media followers that she was on very strict bed rest as she was suffering from “excessive bleeding”.
